On April 1991 SUNCOR Marine & Industrial, Inc. was formed to design, produce and distribute Stainless Chain and Fittings, and Titanium, nationwide and for export.

SUNCOR was originally started as a part-time venture by Roman F. Striebel in 1985 to import a small line of marine fittings and anchors into the USA. After leaving a job as a General Manager for a major company, Roman F. Striebel and his son Patrick A. Striebel decided to form SUNCOR Marine & Industrial.

From 1991 onwards, the company grew significantly year-by-year. At first, the new company used the residence and garage of Roman Striebel in Duxbury before moving into an office / warehouse of 3,000 sqft. at 440 Corporate Park in Pembroke MA in January 1992. The initial product line of 35 items grew in the first year to over 200.

In November 1994, the company had outgrown its premises, and purchased a 20,000 sqft. freestanding office / warehouse building at 7, Riverside Drive, Pembroke MA. The product line grew to 1,000 stainless and titanium items for a wide variety of applications. The company also purchased from Europe chain manufacturing equipment, and installed that in the new building.

In 1997 the company decided to change its name to SUNCOR STAINLESS, Inc. to reflect its total focus on stainless fittings, chain and wire rope. Today the company sells over 3,000 different stainless and titanium products to over 1,500 clients. Suncor's client include the US Coast Guard, US Navy, National Marine Merchandisers (for whom a carded line has been developed), National Industrial Supply Companies, Rigging and Industrial Suppliers, Marine Stores, Suppliers and Contractors to the Waste Water Industry, Exporters, and many other specialized companies.

October of 2003 was an exceptional month for SUNCOR STAINLESS, Inc. We moved from our Pembroke, Mass. facility of 20,000 square feet to a state-of-the-art 70,000 square feet building in Plymouth, Ma. Industrial Park. It is this building, combined with the constant desire to be the leading stainless steel company in the USA, which will allow SUNCOR to continue to grow, as we have over the past 14 years.

The move to Plymouth has brought significant benefits to our already successful company. With this incredible increase in square footage, we are now capable of handling our 3,000 plus SKU inventory, which is one of the largest in the United States. Another added benefit is the ample amount of workspace for our production areas. With the increase in work area space, we are able to take on larger scale jobs, which in return allow SUNCOR STAINLESS, Inc. to continue the growth we so much desire.

In August of 2005, SUNCOR STAINLESS, Inc. was awarded its certification for ISO 9001-2000 Quality Management System. This certification was a result of over two (2) years of planning and implementing various procedures. This has allowed SUNCOR STAINLESS, Inc. to achieve the highest level of quality products and service we demand for our customers.

Our mission is to become the largest and most diversified supplier of stainless and titanium fittings and wire rope, and to become the leading manufacturer in the USA of stainless steel chain.

We will achieve this goal through continuous development of excellent and unique products, superior customer service, and a motivated team.

SUNCOR is committed to increase manufacturing of stainless steel chain in the USA, as over 85% of the stainless chain is imported into the USA. Only one large chain manufacturer in the USA makes stainless chain, as a small part of their chain products. SUNCOR wants to take advantage of that opportunity to become specialized in making stainless chains, thus becoming the only manufacturer anywhere to manufacture exclusively stainless steel chain.

For many years people have bought stainless chain and fittings from a variety of vendors, some specialize in marine hardware, and some specializing in a wide range of industrial supplies.

Stainless sections in industrial catalogs usually are limited to less than 10 pages, and stainless products in marine catalog are often buried amongst many other types of fittings, lights and accessories used exclusively for boating.

SUNCOR is unique in the industry, because there is NO Company in the USA who combines stainless fittings, chain and wire rope for marine, industrial, and many other applications, into one single product line and catalog. SUNCOR is also one of the very few in the industry to develop its own new products and improve existing ones. Most companies only handle "generic" stainless products.

Out of over 3,000 items in SUNCOR's color catalog, less than 1% are not made from stainless steel or titanium. This total focus on stainless chain, wire rope and fittings allows SUNCOR to offer a range of sizes and types of standard stainless fittings unsurpassed in the industry.

The same focus also allows SUNCOR to custom design stainless fittings for specific applications, and to use a variety of specialized manufacturers in the USA and abroad to produce these designs for SUNCOR's customers. SUNCOR is a progressive company, constantly striving to improve the selection and quality of its products, and service to its clients. As we have achieved 14 years in business, we can look back with pride at the progress made each and every year, and look forward with great expectations to the future.
