TESTING
Suncor backs up all sold products with a variety of tests. Some contracts or applications require specific testing, which is done by independent, certified laboratories. Other contracts require internal Certificates of Compliance, which are issued by Suncor.

Important Note If you or one of your clients tests a Suncor product either individually or as part of an assembly: If a Proof Test is conducted and one part fails that test, please stop immediately and return all parts to Suncor. In no case will a credit be issued for more than one failed part in a given size.

Important Disclaimers All Working Load Limits (WLL) stated by SUNCOR are theoretical loads, obtained by gradual pulls in a laboratory. They are set at not more than 25% of the minimum Break Load (BL) obtained in a laboratory. Parts rated by Suncor as “Load Rated” are set at no more than 20% of the minimum Break Load. Please read and pass on to your clients the full Warranty Policy on the inside back cover of this catalog, as Suncor Stainless Inc. its owners, employees, agents, dealers and distributors will only be liable for the original purchase price of the product,
and not for any consequential damage.

Certificate of Compliance Suncor issues its own Certificates of Compliance, which are generally available free of charge to clients. Representations in these certificates include the grade of stainless and Working Load Limits (WLL), and are based on sample tests of the items done by Suncor beforehand.

Test on Government Contracts For some Government or Military contracts, specific tests are prescribed which are then included in the prices charged by Suncor.
Proof Loading Tests For some applications a Proof Load Test is required, which is generally done at twice the WLL. Usually one test is done per size, and since the tested part is not destroyed, it will be part of the delivery. Some orders require each assembly to be proof loaded. This test is most appropriate when Suncor has made up an assembly consisting of different standard parts, such as wire rope or chain slings and assemblies.

Chemical Analysis This test is usually made by a Spectrometer, and covers the chemical composition of aproduct. In addition to the exact percentage of each chemical element, the certificate also shows the specification to which the product complies. Suncor passes on the cost charged by the independent laboratory for such tests.

Destruction Tests Some applications call for a Destruction Test, which establishes a guaranteed Break Load. Other applications might require the maximum shock load, as all of Suncor’s items are only rated for gradual pull, not shock loads. Since the parts or assemblies are destroyed in the test,Suncor passes on the cost of the test, as charged by outside laboratories, in addition to the cost of the parts destroy.
